WEST POINT — Haywood Hardy, 92, died Jan. 30, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. Services will be Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Mt. Olivet MB Church in Aberdeen with the Rev. Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet MB Church Cemetery. Visitation is today from 3-6 p.m. at Carter’s Mortuary Service Chapel in West Point. Mr. Hardy was born Aug. 23, 1923, to the late Moses Hardy and Fannie Lou Marshall Hardy in Aberdeen. He was previously employed by U.S. Steel in Chicago and served in the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife; three sons; daughter; and two brothers. He is survived by his sons, Frederick Hardy of Shannon, Tony Hardy of Henderson, Nevada, and Excell Hardy of Aberdeen; daughters, Kimberly Patterson of Chicago, Dorothy Hardy of Columbus and Tracey Leggon of Tupelo; sisters, Thelma Turnley of Chicago, Mary Graves of West Point, Evelyn Davis and Jean Dukes, both of Aberdeen; 17 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
