In Loving Memory Edith B. Cooper, 89, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on August 27, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital. A memorial visitation celebrating her life will be held from 6PM- 8PM Thursday, September 1, 2016, at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Mrs. Cooper was born on September 27, 1926 in Birmingham, AL to the late Limus & Ruth Bryant. Mrs. Cooper retired as store manager of McCrory’s Corporation in downtown Columbus after putting in 53 years. Mrs. Cooper received many “Manager of the Year” awards that included trips to various European countries, as well as Asia, South America, & Hawaii. Mrs. Cooper was always referred to as “Nannie,” as that is how her grandchildren lovingly addressed her. She was not only a loving mother, but also a kind woman who loved doing things for others, asking nothing in return. Mrs. Cooper was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. Her greatest joy was her family. Her absence from this life will leave a void that no other can fill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, R. O. Cooper Jr., and one grandson, Keith Kendrick. She is survived by daughters LaNell Beard of Chelsea, AL, Dhana Lybrand of Columbus, MS, and LaVerne Lofland of Springfield, MO; a brother, Buddy Bryant of Odenville, AL, a sister, Pat Yates of Destin, FL; grandchildren Mark Baldwin Jr., Anthony Lybrand Jr., Erin Lybrand of Columbus, MS, Traci Mitchell of Crosby, TX, as well as numerous great-grandchildren.
