MONTPELIER — William Edward “Bud-Sweet Pea” Thompson, 81, died April 23, 2017, at his residence. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Palestine United Methodist Church with the Rev. Eddie Brock officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. today at Calvert Funeral Home and will be one hour prior to services. Mr. Thompson was born June 28, 1935, to the late Jim Webber and Frances Inez Goode Thompson. He was a graduate of Clay High School. He previously owned Bud Thompson Steel Erectors and was a member of Palestine United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Frances Hill. He is survived by his wife, Norma B. Thompson of Montpelier; daughter, Tammie Doler of Calhoun City; sons, Keith Thompson and Tim Thompson, both of Montpelier, and Matt Thompson of West Point; sisters, Pat May and Jimmie Hollingsworth, both of West Point; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
