VERNON, Ala. — Minerva Henry Hollis, 76, died Dec. 5, 2017, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at New Grove Baptist Church in Kennedy, Alabama. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. today at Otts Funeral Home. Otts Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Hollis was born June 7, 1941, in Lowndes County, to the late John Wesley Henry and Elizabeth Young. She attended Lamar County Training School and was formerly employed with Vernon Manufacturing, Chromalox and Lamar Convalescent Center. She was a member of New Grove Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, William Westbrooks and Billy Wayne Evans; brothers, Joe Henry, Billy Henry, Mack Henry and West Henry; and sister, Geneva Rogers. She is survived by her sons, Lewis Westbrooks of Chicago, Illinois, Kenneth Hill and Charlie Lee Johnson, both of Vernon, and Jimmy Hill of Caledonia; daughter, Jeanette Westbrooks of Vernon; brother, Jimmy Van Henry of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; sisters, Katherine Armstrong of Vernon and Octavia Dixon of Kennedy, Alabama; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
