HAMILTON, Ala. — Alvin Spears, 64, died Jan. 5, 2018, at Hendrix Health & Rehab in Double Springs, Alabama. Services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Mt. Zion II CME Church in Hamilton, Alabama with the Rev. Annie Elliott officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Grove Cemetery. Visitation will from noon till the service at the church. Otts Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements. Mr. Spears was born in Marion County, Alabama on Oct. 13, 1953, to the late Napoleon Spears and the late Arnie Mae Metcalf. He attended Ada Hanna School and was a member of the Mt. Zion II CME Church where he served as a Sunday School Superintendent and Trustee. Mr. Spears was previously employed by NTN Bower. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Ora Lee Metcalf, Rosie Johnson and Shirley Crayton and brothers, John Spears, Claudie Spears, Bobby Spears and A.B. Spears. He is survived by his son, Reggie Casey of Hamilton, Alabama; daughter, Felicia Casey of Hamilton, Alabama; parenting partner, Jerdean Casey of Hamilton, Alabama; brother, Napoleon Spears of Dayton Ohio; sisters, Jean Barnes of Birmingham, Alabama, Carolyn Rogers of Birmingham, Alabama and Mary Givhan of Dayton, Ohio; and one grandchild.
