Carmen Lyle Caldwell Haynes, 84, died March 4, 2018, at Montgomery Gardens in Starkville. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9-11 a.m. at First Baptist Church Sanctuary with the memorial service immediately following. Mrs. Haynes was born in Ecru on June 18, 1933, to the late Bessie Stephens and L.D. “Jack” Caldwell. She attended MSCW and received her Bachelors of Science Degree from Mississippi State University. She formerly taught history and English at Pelahatchie, Jackson Central High School, Seminary and Collins. She was chosen Outstanding Educator of Covington County and a STAR teacher. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and served as president of the Starkville Education Association. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and a member of the choir and Joyful Noisemakers. She was a member of the Oktibbeha County Rose Society and Oktibbeha County Humane Society. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bo” Haynes; and sister, Olivia Roark. She is survived by her sons, Randy and Jack; three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Oktibbeha County Humane Society, P.O.
