COLUMBUS ó Richard Burdine, 77, died July 4, 2018, in Columbus. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Lower Level of the James M. Trotter Convention Center with Rev. Paul E. Luckett officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today at Carterís Funeral Services. Carterís Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Burdine was born March 10, 1941, in Carbon Hill, Alabama, to the late Frank Burdine and Callie Mae. He was a 1958 graduate of Amory High School, a graduate of Lane College and Florida State University, where he received a law degree. He was formerly employed as a public defender and attorney with the Law Office of Richard Burdine until retirement. He was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and St. James U.M. Church in Amory. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Burdine; children, Michelle Brewer and Richard Burdine; and siblings, John Thomas, Ira Burdine and Thermon Burdine. He is survived by his children, Sabrina Robinson, Sondra McGregory and Nanette Pratt, all of Columbus; Ira Burdine and Rhea Harrison of Houston, Texas, Richard Burdine, Jr. of Bethesda, Maryland, Frankie Taylor of Jackson, Tennessee, and Nathanette Burdine of Lake Placid, Florida; siblings, James Williams Burdine of Detroit, Michigan, Charlie Burdine and Lashann Burdine of North Chicago, Illinois, Warren D. Burdine, Frank Burdine, Jr. and Rudolph Burdine, all of Amory, Frankie Coleman of Shuqualak, Lottie B. Foutch of Nashville, Tennessee and Ruby B. Dotson of Romeoville, Illinois; 22 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
