Hugh Rockwell “Rocky” Adams, 77, of Steens, MS passed away Monday, December 3, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT, Columbus, MS. A memorial service will be Friday, December 7, 2012, at 11 AM at New Hope United Methodist Church, Columbus, MS with Rev. Sarah Windham officiating and Rev. Stacy Douglas assisting; Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS will be directing. Mr. Adams was born February 19, 1935, in Tacoma, WA to the late Paul and June Jeffords Adams. He served as a U.S. Navy Officer for 21 years. Mr. Adams was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church. He was also a member of several organizations: Vietnam Veterans Association, American Legion Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled Veterans Association, National Rifle Association, Bass Masters Association, Green Oaks Golf Course, and a card carrying Republican. In addition to his parents, Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Adams. Mr. Adams is survived by his wife of 44 years, Frances O’Neil Finch Adams, Steens, MS; children- Keyla (Bruce) Peters, Greenfield, CA, Deborah (Tim) Hillman, Clinton, WA, Tammy (Al) Bell, Moline, IL, Roxanne Broderick, Central Point, OR, Connie (Peggy) Bauer, King City, CA, and Larry (Kim) Lee, Bothell, WA; sisters- Sandy Smith, Minnetonka, MN and Donna Knight, Albuquerque, NM; 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, Sadie the dog, Shorty the cat, his friends- Red Taylor, Charlie Underhill and many others.
