Milton (Sonny) Curry Collins, age 86, of Aliceville passed away December 1, 2012. Following a private burial, a memorial service will follow at a later date. Sonny was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Virginia Ann Wetherbee; his parents, James Herbert and Mary Esther Curry Collins; four sisters, Margarite Hazlette, Edith Manning, Martha Hurbert and Pat Mallet; and one brother, James Herbert Collins. He is survived by one son, Joe (Sunny) Collins of Aliceville; two daughters, Barbara (Joe) Henderson of Synder, TX and Ginny (Max) Wiggins of Boise, ID; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Rob) Taylor of Synder, TX, Jody (Amy) Proffitt of D’Iberville, MS and Wetherly Collins of New York, NY; one great grandchild, Abigail Proffitt; one sister, Stella (Keith) Bryant of Birmingham, AL; and special friends, Flora Sansing, Sharon Prude and Amy McMullen. Sonny was a veteran of WWII, serving in the United States Navy, a retired employee of Westinghouse Electric Company and a member of the Aliceville First Baptist Church. Sonny loved his family and life. He will be remembered for his ready smile and laugh, and his outgoing personality which never let him meet a stranger. The family would be honored to have memorials be given to: The Garden Cemetery, Alabama Baptist Children’s Home, First Baptist Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
