Mildred Clemmons Watkins, age 87, died Wednesday, January 02, 2013, at her residence in Ridgeland MS. Services were held Saturday, January 05, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sammy Crawford officiating. Burial followed at Memorial Gardens of Columbus. Visitation was held at the funeral home Friday, January 04, 2013 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Mrs. Watkins was born on Monday, April 20, 1925, in Kosciusko, MS to the late Enmon and Delia Hodges Townsend. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, and had worked as a cashier at Hawkins Drug Store and Big Star. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Edward Clemmons and Rufus Watkins; and her daughters, Judy Hodges Creekmore and Jean Watkins Landrum. Survivors include her daughter, Carol Jo Owens (Murry), Montgomery, AL; sons, Walter Clemmons (Glenda), Ridgeland, MS, Richmond R. Watkins, III (Mary), Sylacauga, AL, Michael Watkins (Terry), Philadelphia, MS and William R. Clemmons (Laura), Baton Rouge, LA; grandchildren: Roman Hudson, Emily Whitt, Nicholas Watkins (Nicole), Ashley Watkins, Scott McCormick (Pattie), Lance McCormick (Missy), Debbie Blayne (Kevin) and Tracy Panter. (Morris); and a number of great-grandchildren. The pallbearers were Johnny Spouse, Billy Smith, Larry Clemmons, Tommy Doughty, Mark Horning, and Bruce Townsend. The honorary pallbearers were Bill Mason, Jim Hawkins, Charlie Watkins, Bobby Clemmons, Bobby Ward, Phil Pratt, and Sammy Townsend.
