SHUQUALAK — Gertrude Johnson, 70, died Jan. 15, 2013, at Noxubee General Hospital. Services are Saturday at 11 a.m. at Ivory Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Casey officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peters Cemetery. Visitation is today from 1-5 p.m. at Lee-Sykes Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Johnson was born April 14, 1942, to the late Matt and Mary Dantzler Robinson. She was a member of St. Peters UM Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her children, Melvin and Johnny C. Johnson; and 11 siblings. Survivors include her husband, Otis C. Johnson of Shuqualak; daughters, Delois Maxwell and Debra Jenkins, both of Shuqualak, Barbara Bright of Meridian and Sandra Simmons of Aliceville, Ala.; sons, Grover Johnson of Scooba and George L. Johnson of Shuqualak; sisters, Nettie B. Glass of St. Louis and Otha Mae Conner of Macon; brothers, Shelton and Isiah Robinson, both of St. Louis and Gus Robinson of Shuqualak; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Grover C. Johnson, Jeremy Hibbler, Donta Stewart, Dean Maxwell, Ron Parson and Dewayne Stewart.
