COLUMBUS — Mamie Lou Gholston, 84, died Jan. 14, 2013, at her residence. Services are Saturday at 1 p.m. at Bible Way Progressive Church of God in Christ with Robert Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery. Visitation is today from noon to 6 p.m. at Carter’s of Columbus. Mrs. Gholston was born May 29, 1929, to the late Calvin and Paula Toney. She was employed as a cook with the Columbus Country Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by his husband, William Gholston; and siblings, Corine Swanigan, Mary Alice Sherrod, Victoria Beard, Sally Harrison, Willie Toney, Julius Toney, Calvin Toney Jr., Ezekiel Toney and James Toney. Survivors include her son, Calvin Swanigan of Columbus; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Steven Swanigan, Ceasar Sherrod, Willie Sherrod Jr., Jerry Swanigan, Curtis Williams Jr., and Robert Swanigan.
