Emma Gene Stuckenschneider, age 89, of Birmingham, AL, formerly of Columbus, MS, died February 20, 2013, at Mount Royal Towers retirement community in Birmingham, exactly four years to the day of the passing of her husband of 60 plus years, James T. Stuckenschneider. Graveside services will be Friday, February 22, 2013, at 1:30 PM at Friendship Cemetery with Rev. Gary Edge officiating. The daughter of the late Andrew Grover Gainey, Sr. and Emma Joyner Gainey, she was born March 2, 1923. She was a graduate of Millsaps College, and she was a long-time educator in schools in Memphis and Chattanooga, TN and Atlanta, GA. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, John Lee Gainey, Glover Joyner Gainey, and Andrew Grover Gainey, Jr.; and sisters, Ruth Branscome and Marguerite McMillian. Mrs. Stuckenschneider is survived by her daughter, Cornelia Westenberger (John), Spring Hill, TN; son Ted Stuckenschneider (Dana), Birmingham, AL; granddaughter, Michelle Carrico; great-granddaughter, Hope Carrico; and numerous nieces and nephews. The Stuckenschneider Sunday School Class of the First United Methodist Church of Columbus will be honorary pallbearers. Memorials may be made to Valley Christian Church, 2600 Cherokee Place, Birmingham, AL 35216.
