ATLANTA — Anthony Bankhead, 49, died Feb. 13, 2013, at his residence. Services are Friday at noon at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Macon with Pastor Carl Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Oddfellows Cemetery. Visitation is today at 1-5 p.m., with family greeting from 6-7 p.m., at Lee Sykes Funeral Chapel in Macon. Mr. Bankhead was born July 13, 1963, in Chicago, to the late Samuel and Lenore Bankhead. He graduated from Bowen High School and joined the United States Army where he was deployed in Germany. He attended the University of Northern Colorado where he earned an associate degree in electronics and communication engineering frmo 1983 to 1985. He returned to the military service where he served in the Marines. He also spent 20 years working in the cable and telecommunication industry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Maurice Bankhead and Mary Bankhead Tillman. He is survived by his wife, Monica Sellers Bankhead of Atlanta; sons, Anthony Bankhead of Greely, Colo., Jose Stewart of Bowie, Md.; stepchildren, Veronica Gomez and Mathew Rodriguez, both of Greely, Justin and Joshua Sellers of Atlanta; sisters, Carol Welch of Macon, and Clevlyn Anderson of Norcross, Ga.; brothers, Samuel and Timothy Bankhead, both of Chicago. Pallbearers will be Timothy Bankhead, Samuel Bankhead III, Willie C. Welch, Darnell Welch, Jose Stewart and Mathew Rodriquez.
