SHUQUALAK —Anita Bateman Conner, 83, died Feb. 19, 2013, at her residence. Services are Saturday at 2 p.m. at Soule Harbor Pentecostal Church in Shuqualak with Bro. Gerald Butler officiating. Burial will follow in the family lot of Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday one hour prior to service at the church. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Conner was born Feb. 5, 1930, to the late Miner and Beulah Eaves Bateman. She was a native of Noxubee County and lived there most of her life. She worked for over 16 years at the Macon Garment Plant. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Lawrence Conner; brothers, Arvil, Miner Jr., Edward, Bobby, Harold and Roy Bateman; sisters, Flora Bateman, Bertha Higginbotham and Clara Robinson. She is survived by her daughters, Gloria Shelton and Sandra Poag, both of Cullman, Ala., Patricia Boykin of Macon, and Christie Sabinson of Nanih Waiya; son, Larry Allen Conner of Shuqualak; sister, Barbara Rahrig of Avon Park, Fla.; 13 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Johnny Shelton, Steve Shelton, Kenny ray Boykin, Sonny Poag, Allen Conner, Derrick Conner, David Conner, Jonathan Misso and T. J. Hall. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
