MACON — Dr. Patrick Henry Gill Jr. MD, 86, died March 3, 2013, at Darlington Oaks in Verona. Services are Wednesday at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Macon with Dr. Tommy Jarrett officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery. Visitation is two hours prior to services. Cockrell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Dr. Gill was born Oct. 11, 1926 in Pineville to the late Patrick Henry Sr. and Velma Smith Gill. He was a graduate of Puckett High School, Jones County Junior College, the University of Mississippi and Jefferson Medical College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a member of first Baptist Church in Macon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Fannie Lou Gill Salter; and brother, Thomas Joseph Gill. Survivors include his wife, Mary Nell Guy Gill; children, Carol Gill, Janet Gill, Edna Diane Gill Racine, Patrick Henry Gill III MD, Velma Lynn Gill Geer, Steve Brown, Stephanie Brown, Mary Elizabeth Gill Bonds and Alice Gill; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 540, Macon, MS 39341 or to Community Hospice, P.O. Box 333, Sherman, MS 38869.
