PHEBA — John Michael “Foots” Vance, 66, died March 15, 2013, at his residence. Services are today at 2 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Andy Parrish officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery in Maben. Mr. Vance was born Dec. 30, 1946, in Houston to Anna Lloyd Fant Morgan of Eupora and Lt. Col. John Gurney of Montgomery, Ala. He was a conductor with Kansas City Southern and was a member of Cedar Bluff Baptist Church. He served in the Mississippi National Guard-Eupora. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John Ed and Edna Vance, Samuel and Georgia Fant; and stepfather, Willis Morgan. He is survived by his wife, Flora Virginia McKee Vance of Pheba; daughter, Tia McMullin Perkins of Harahan, La.; sons, Terry Colin McMullin of Mantee, John Michael Vance Jr. and Scott Vance, both of Houlka and Tony Kevin Vance of Starkville; sisters, Tanna Gary and Brenda Gary, both of Eupora, and Elanora Orgish of Houston; his brothers; and nine grandchildren. Pallbearers are Casey Terrell Weeks, Toby McKee, Perron Sizemore, Joe Jack White, Jimmy Perkins, Josh McKee, Ren Gary and Robbie Hubbard.
