We would like to thank all of the firefighters from Fire House 1, Fire House 2 and Fire House 3 that were on duty this past Wednesday night, Feb. 18th.
These firefighters responded very quickly to our chimney fire that occurred around 6:15 that evening. This was a very scary incident for us, yet the firefighters arrived quickly, entered our house, assessed the situation and promptly extinguished the fire while leaving little evidence of their presence.
They had hoses out, ladders extended, and were on the roof in such a timely manner that it caused us to have no damage other than to the interior of the chimney. They were very professional and conscientious of protecting our home to the point that they placed a tarp on the living room floor after they moved furniture in order to prevent water or ashes from getting on our furniture. They all worked quietly and expeditiously.
We truly witnessed the work of Columbus’ finest firefighters that night. Although you never hope to have to experience this kind of situation, we are grateful for and very proud of these fine men who came to our aid. We realize our situation could have been much worse had it not been for the quick response and professionalism of these wonderful firefighters.
We very much appreciate you and the wonderful service you provide to our community.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Bill and Willie Bell
