Have we lost control of our government?
Have we, the taxpaying voter, lost control of our government? Most of our communications with our government, Republican and Democrat, go something like this: “If you will send $25, $50, $75 or $1,000 or more we would fight to eliminate this threat, take care of our veterans, give away more money or services … our country will be better for it.”
These letters came so frequently we lose interest in supporting any requests. The letters and phone calls requesting money continue like leaves falling from trees.
Just once could we get a report on what our elected leaders are doing for their voters? We are feeling an absolute lack of trust — are they working for us? Or are they only writing or calling to ask for money?
Where are true, brave leaders when we have major problems such as immigration, foreign policy and an unfair tax system?
We would love to learn that our leaders, Congress especially, are indeed working hard on these critical issues instead of letting presidential executive order rule our country. Who is responsible for ensuring that our U.S. Constitution is upheld fully? Who prosecutes those who ignore the official law of the land?
Is this the responsibility of the Department of Justice, the Supreme Court or Congress?
Someone needs to be in charge. Are we moving back to a monarchy where the Royals rule or are we a democratic government?
Do the P.A.C.s (Political Action Committees) run our government? The Supreme Court ruled that P.A.C.s have the right to give unlimited financial support to political candidates. Which causes do you think elected officials will support — those supported by the P.A.C. who give them big bucks or the lowly taxpaying voter? Does taxation without representation sound familiar?
Can the Supreme Court reverse its decision to allow P.A.C.s unlimited financial support of political candidates?
I think they should. Our country would be a lot stronger for it.
