Enjoyed arts offerings
As a visitor to Columbus, I was privileged to attend the 50th Anniversary Gala at the Columbus Arts Council on Friday night as a guest of board member Jerry Fortenberry. Earlier in the week, I attended a classical guitar recital on the campus of The W and Saturday night attended the Starkville Symphony on the MSU campus.
To see such impressive arts events in the Columbus area is a powerful testament to the support and nurturing of the arts here in Tennessee Williams’ birthplace. I myself will be celebrating Tennessee Williams in New Orleans with the Tennessee Williams Literary Festival as we honor America’s greatest playwright on his 104th birthday this Thursday, March 26th.
I write to commend all those people in Columbus who have helped to make possible the events I have enjoyed attending here during my stay.
