HB1523 result of political correctness
Why do we need HB1523? We shouldn’t, but, it seems a few people across this great country, had their feelings hurt and saw an opportunity to increase their bank accounts by suing those nasty, perverse, business owners. Could it be they entered that business with the express intention of being denied service? It could be … Whether they instigated it or not, it happened, but instead of seeking service elsewhere like most of us would, they just had to make those mean store owners pay for hurting their feelings. Now that it happened, you can bet, others out there see this as an opportunity to stuff their coffers. Hence the need for HB1523.
This law is being sorely and purposely misrepresented in order to stir up the cry babies and prisoners of political correctness who couldn’t sleep at night if they missed an opportunity to pass condemnation on someone or something. In this case, the great state of Mississippi.
Until political correctness came along (now running amok), laws like this were unnecessary. People recognized that business owners had every right to deny service to anyone, for whatever reason. I see signs posted on doors in this city now that states “No shirt, no shoes, no service,” and at least one that says “Remove hood and sunglasses before entering.” Isn’t this discriminatory? Will they be sued for those horrific demands?
Let’s be honest. How often do you think a business will deny service to someone? Probably about as often as we get snow in July. Businesses are out to make money and they really don’t care who you are or what you think. Cash keeps the doors open and pays the bills. Competition with others, including on-line shopping makes it difficult for any brick and mortar shop to refuse business, but if they do they should be protected from lawsuits. For personnel in government offices, if they have an objection of approving something, no problem, they are required to get someone else to sign off. Not a big deal. Our elected leaders were wise to enact legislation to protect their freedoms.
This issue sorta reminds me of the flag debacle. Unless you are the one raising and lowering the flag every day, you probably don’t even know it’s around. It wouldn’t surprise me in the least that the ones who cry loudest couldn’t even describe what the flag actually looks like, and if people will just calm down they will soon realize how little impact this law will actually have. It’s only a safety net caused by a deterioration in social values. Wake up Americans, before we drown in this cesspool called political correctness!
