Apologizing isn’t enough

Thank you, Charlie Box, for making the motion before the City Council to reprimand Mayor Smith and Councilman Karriem for their embarrassing behavior last week. It is a small step toward reversing the bad publicity our city has received. Now Mr. Smith and Mr. Karriem need to levee the same punishment on themselves that they have given to others. Withdrawing the charges they filed against each other and apologizing isn''t enough. Many citizens of Columbus are waiting to see if they really have the best interests of Columbus at heart.

Thank you Sissie. At least you put your name on your comments. Most hid behind a made up name. There are a lot of people who supported the Mayor that won't next time. Again thanks to Mr Box for having the guts to say what we all feel. I now live in Birmingham and have missed the old town but now the new town.

Mr. Edwards, it's ok to hide behind a handle. I think the vast majority of people who are toughing it out in Columbus, not bailing out to Ala., have the same thoughts as Sissie does about this mess . It's important to let our voice be heard one way or another. Thanks to the dispatch for way of doing it. Most of the politicians read the comments too and get a ear full of how the voters really feel about what they're doing.

I agree with Sissie--the manly thing would be resign and the next best thing would be to choose to give up at least one month's pay and put in place a guideline like Thom Geiger wanted to do, makes sense to me.
Don't know about you but after reading Smith's statement in the Dispatch today, who are we to believe? They are both saying the other instigated this big mess. So who is telling the truth? At this point I think we can't believe either one. If they have witnesses and recordings on phones -let the Judge use them to get to the bottom of this and show us who lying. Maybe both could be lying. We need to know for sure and we have a citizens right to get this mess straight.

observer2 A handle in a part of the pot you hold it by. Are you a pot or just a chicken in a pot? I think you are a chicken! Please do not commit. We don't talk to chickens.

Are there 2 observers or just one idot with 2 handles?

Folks, Keep in mind that the vote was 3 - 2 to reprimand. Had Karriem voted "NO" then the Mayor would have been required to break the "TIE". It is ashame that the vote was 3 - 2. We need to see what those "2" get for voting "NO".

Also keep in mind the city is "BROKE". Where are they going to get the money for a bridge?
