Get politics out of education
There’s only one way to effectively “rate” schools, and that’s to have all students in each grade take a state-issued test on general/specific knowledge suitable to each grade. Do NOT give teachers or anybody else the test questions prior to giving the tests so they can’t “teach the test.” Despite what our Founding Fathers said, all men (women & children) are NOT created “equal” intellectually. Not all teachers are equally adept at teaching. Some students will be far better off getting a basic education followed by trade school. Plumbers make darn good money!
Grading on a “curve” is not the right way to achieve anything good. Participation trophies in education are stupid. We need to do what’s right and fair for all students, regardless of their abilities to comprehend various subjects. Don’t waste their time nor ours by teaching some algebra when they can’t understand it and if a student is ready for calculus don’t hold him/her back because of the rest of the class.
Get politics out of education. Let’s get American students back at or near the top in world-class education, now.
