The gift of joy
Tuesday, Dec. 12, at Annunciation Catholic Church, there was a “joyful noise.”
Before the performance of the Messiah, the Columbus High School Varsity Singers under the direction of Doug Browning performed several traditional Christmas songs. The students were articulate and pitch perfect. Their voices were like angels singing and bells ringing. They blew me away.
With all the bad news with our world, our nation and our Columbus City Schools, these beautiful young people were a breath of fresh air. They lifted me up like nothing else has in a while.
These young people are our hope for a decent future. It is a heavy burden but I believe in them. They have given me hope.
Columbus, let us not let them down. Let us support them in all their endeavors. They are our future.
Thank you, Columbus High School Varsity Singers and Dr. Browning for your gift of joy.
Merry Christmas!
