JACKSON - Republican Gov. Haley Barbour has signed a $422.8 million bond bill to pay for needs at colleges, state agencies and for economic development projects.
Lawmakers have said the bill includes more than 100 projects. It provides nearly $99 million for universities; $105.7 million for state agencies and $152.9 million for economic development. It also includes $20 million for bridge repairs and $5 million for railroad improvements. The bill also includes $50 million for a road project for the Toyota plant in northeast Mississippi.
The state issues bonds to take on long-term debt for projects.
Barbour signed the bill on Wednesday.
