STARKVILLE — Those who enjoy healthy activities and saving the environment have a chance to combine both in Walk to School Day on Wednesday.
Starkville in Motion is organizing the Earth Day walk to Henderson Ward Stewart Elementary School. Registration begins at 6:40 a.m. at J.L. King Park in the parking lot next to the walking track. The 15-minute walk begins at 7 a.m. All who gather there will walk with a police escort to the main gate in front of Henderson.
Those bringing musical instruments to school can hand these off to event organizers, who will transport the instruments from the park to the campus.
The park-and-walk event is open to all families, not just those who live near the route. Supporters of the Safe Routes to School initiative are also invited.
More information on the event is available online at www.starkvilleinmotion.org or by calling Lois Connington at 662-312-2588.
