Mississippi University for Women will add social dancing to its recreational lineup this month.
Individuals who enjoy or want to learn how to do the Hustle, Cha Cha, the Waltz and East Coast Swing will be given the opportunity every Tuesday in May from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The five classes, which will be instructed by Stephen and Freida Burt, are being offered through MUW”s Office of Campus Recreation in the dance studio.
“We wanted to add something fun this summer for the entire community. This is a wonderful opportunity for couples and their families to brush up on their dancing skills before the wedding day,” said Marion McEwen, campus recreation wellness coordinator. “Dancing is great exercise for all ages and ballroom dancing is very popular now with programs such as ”Dancing with the Stars” and ”So You Think You Can Dance.””
Anyone may sign up and singles are welcome. The cost for lessons for singles is $35 (student), $50 (Stark Recreation Center member) and $60 (non-member). The fee for couples is $60 (student), $75 (Stark Recreation Center member) and $90 (non-member).
For more information, contact McEwen at 662-241-7494 or email [email protected].
