OKTIBBEHA COUNTY — With the help of thermal imaging technology, Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s deputies were able to locate and arrest a man who stabbed a person and injured another Thursday night.
At approximately 8 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the Fish Shack, a bar and grill on 2230 Old West Point Road near the Clay County line, to respond to an aggravated assault call.
Harrell Lindsey Sr., 63, of 1695 Stowood Road, had allegedly gotten into a fight with a man and stabbed him. Lindsey then got into his vehicle and rammed three parked cars, injuring a woman before fleeing on foot.
The Oktibbeha County Volunteer Department responded to the scene and brought thermal imaging equipment to help locate Lindsey, who eventually gave himself up once deputies closed in.
“(The VFD) invited us a week or so ago to participate in training,” OCSO Commander Brett Watson said. “We called because we felt like he was deep out in this pasture. We were able to pick up his heat signature and get pretty close to him.
“Give kudos to the fire department for responding when we needed the help,” Watson added.
Lindsey is currently in Oktibbeha County jail on three counts of aggravated assault and is awaiting bond.
The woman sustained cuts and bruises when her vehicle was struck by Lindsey’s vehicle. The man who sustained stab wounds to his torso also suffered cuts and bruises from the collision.
Both were victims were transported by EMTs to OCH Regional Medical Center and have since been treated and released.
