“Elegance in the Arts” will be the theme for the 2011 Starkville Area Arts Council gala, the organization’s premier annual event.
Event chairmen Armando and Ruth de la Cruz announced the gala will be held Saturday, Nov. 19, from 6-10:30 p.m., at the Hunter Henry Center on the Mississippi State University campus.
Tickets are $75, available at the arts council office at 101 S. Lafayette St., Suite 18, Starkville, or from any member of the council’s board of directors.
“We are planning an exciting and elegant evening of dining and dancing featuring the best our area has to offer,” said Armando de la Cruz, adding that the dinner will be a catered “sit-down affair.” There will also be a silent auction of original works by area artists and gifts from various businesses.
Attire for the event will be black-tie formal, with suit or cocktail dress as an option.
Committee members include Susan Brown, ticket sales; Suzy Turner and Joan Wilson, meal and menu; Ron Walker and Warren Housley, beverage (selections); Armando de la Cruz and Paige Lawes, entertainment; Dylan Karges and Melanie Mitchell, auction coordinators; Barbara Foster, Stephanie Baker, Barbara Walker, and Judi Housley, decorations; and Emily Jones, publicity.
A highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Medal of Excellence in the Arts award, to be announced by SAAC president Robin Fant.
Seating will be limited, with only 220 tickets available. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Table reservations for eight can also be made.
