A rose to emergency responders from law enforcement agencies, fire departments and Baptist Memorial Golden Triangle, who have been especially busy of late. While it is their job to be on the scene and professional, they must do delicate and often emotionally charged work under the most trying circumstances. These men and women deserve our respect and cooperation.
A rose to all those who have decked out their houses and yards for Halloween. There’s some spooky stuff out there. We have to admit, we have a soft spot for any kind of holiday decor, regardless the celebration. It’s a way we share the spirit of the season with our community. A lot of creativity goes into these visual treats. We urge all those out on Halloween night to exercise care and good judgment as children will be out in large numbers.
A reader submitted rose from Lois Laird: If you haven’t already done so, I would respectfully request that you recognize Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus with a rose for providing free flu shots to the community on Oct. 19.
My husband and I both took advantage of this opportunity. Truthfully, we were afraid there would be a long wait, but that wasn’t the case due to the efficient set up. We received prompt and courteous treatment from the medical personnel.
Another reader submitted rose from Frank White: A rose to Lowndes County road manager Ronnie Burns. My critically ill brother, C.D. White, called Ronnie about the terrible condition of Curtis Chapel Road, which he traveled repeatedly on his way to his dialysis treatments. Ronnie responded immediately and sent his crew out to patch the worst of the holes. He explained that he did as much as his available money would allow. My brother, who passed away on Sept. 27, was amazed at his quick response in taking care of the need. Thank you very much, Ronnie.
