OCEAN SPRINGS — City leaders in Ocean Springs say establishing a noise ordinance to shield downtown neighborhoods from bustling late-night businesses will require negotiation.
And once established, they say enforcement could be tricky.
The Sun Herald reports city officials met with restaurant and bar owners Tuesday to gauge reaction to setting decibel limits on businesses, especially after 11 p.m. on weekends.
Business owners suggested setting up a special entertainment district that will give them some leeway if the city passes a noise ordinance. They discussed requiring people who complain about noise to identify themselves. City leaders said they would grant special exceptions for city events such as festivals.
