The Noxubee Alliance recently held its annual Salute to Industry awards luncheon to celebrate Noxubee County''s business community, honoring the Thomasson Co./East Mississippi Pole as the Industry of the Year.
Since 2005, Thomasson Co. has invested more than $6 million in the future of Noxubee County by establishing East Mississippi Pole Co. and sister company Macon Treating.
Thomasson, a leading supplier of poles and wood products to utility companies and other industries, offers CCA and CCA-ET treatment options through Macon Treating Co. for Southern Yellow Pine processed at East Mississippi Pole Co.
The sister companies are located together on approximately 30 acres in Macon.
"Thomasson Co. is an outstanding corporate neighbor. They have already created 26 new jobs, with the potential for many more as the business grows," said Brian Wilson, Noxubee Alliance executive director.
Entrepreneurs of the Year
Wilford and Mary Patterson of Patterson''s Professional Car Care were recognized during the luncheon as Entrepreneurs of the Year.
The Pattersons, of Macon, are the owners of Pattersons'' Professional Car Care. The Pattersons purchased their current location on Highway 45 in Macon almost 10 years ago. Since that time, the Pattersons have expanded their successful retail operation to include U-Haul rentals and auto sales.
"Small business is the backbone of our economy and responsible for most new jobs created," said Wilson. "The Pattersons are a great example of how hard work and determination can lead to success."
Employees of Thompson Machinery prepared the complimentary Noxubee County-raised catfish lunch. Superior Food Products of Macon donated the fresh catfish.
The Noxubee Alliance is a public-private partnership dedicated to the promotion of economic development, tourism, and community development in Noxubee County.
