STARKVILLE -- Starkville police arrested a McCool man Tuesday night for a weekend shooting in the Brookville Garden apartment complex.
Stennis Miller, 18, was arrested on two counts of aggravated assault and one count of shooting into a dwelling.
The charges stem from an incident Friday when, at about 11:30 p.m., the Starkville Police Department received a call about shots fired at Brookville Garden Apartments, SPD Lt. Maurice Johnson said. When police arrived they found a 24-year-old woman, who said a man shot at her vehicle while she was trying to leave the complex.
The round entered the woman''s green Ford Explorer, but didn''t strike her or her 2-year-old child, who was secured in the back seat, Johnson said.
Police also received a call moments after the initial report that a round had struck a nearby apartment building, went through the wall and entered the bedroom of a male tenant. The tenant wasn''t struck.
"Fortunately no one was injured in the incident," Johnson said.
Miller turned himself in to police Tuesday night and was placed under arrest. He later was released on a combined $30,000 bond for the three charges.
Even though an arrest was made, police are still investigating the incident. Miller''s relationship with the female victim is unclear.
