ENTER: Submissions accepted through June 29.
Public votes July 14.
Admittedly, most minds may be more preoccupied with sunny beaches than Santa Claus this time of year, but those holidays will roll around sooner than we think.
The Columbus Arts Council’s Holiday Card Decorating Contest will accept entries through Friday, June 29, in three age categories: age 10 and below; 11-17; and 18 and up.
The grand prize winner’s design will become the official holiday card for the Columbus Arts Council for 2012. The winner will also receive free tickets to all Omnova Series concerts and productions from July 2012 to July 2013.
“It may be June, but in just a few months, we’ll all be focused on the holidays, and we’re looking forward to sending out cards designed by an artist right here among us,” said Tina Sweeten, executive director of the arts council. “There’s still time for people of any age to enter; we’ll even supply the paper.”
Winners in all three age categories will have their designs reproduced for a box set of cards to be sold in the Arts Council’s gift gallery. Each artist will receive a portion of the proceeds.
You can vote
Submitted designs will be on display Saturday, July 14, at the arts council’s Rosenzweig Arts Center at 501 Main St. The public will vote for a favorite between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., with the winners announced at 4 p.m.
All non-winning entries will be available for sale to the public for $10, with the artist receiving $7 for any work sold.
All designs or photographs submitted must be the original work of the applicant. All applicants state and agree that their contest submission will not infringe on the intellectual property right of any third party.
A fee of $5 for one entry, or $10 for three entries, applies. Card stock is available from the Columbus Arts Council. Guidelines and applications can be picked up at the Rosenzweig Arts Center, or found at columbus-arts.org.
