The Columbus Arts Council is considering a logo redesign and is looking to the talented public for ideas.

"We're looking for a new logo to be used on all branding material including our website, business cards, social media and more," said Tina Sweeten, CAC executive director. "Our organization exists for the communities we serve, so who better to design a logo than someone in those communities?"

The winning design will become the official logo for the Arts Council effective 2013. A selection committee comprised of board members and artists will review and evaluate submitted designs this fall.

"We're trying to find a logo that will distinguish us being the Columbus Arts Council located in the Rosenzweig Arts Center," stated Sweeten.

The nonprofit Arts Council was organized in 1965 and incorporated in 1971 with a mission to "present, promote and support the arts and arts education." While located in Columbus and Lowndes County, its programming draws from throughout Northeast Mississippi and Northwest Alabama.

Primary programs include the Concert and Artist Series, Young People's Artist Series, Omnova Music Series, monthly gallery shows, classes and summer art camps.

The Rosenzweig Arts Center, often referred to throughout the community as the RAC, features a sales and exhibit gallery, classroom space, a theater and meeting rooms.

"Please visit our website or our Facebook page at Columbus Arts Council to get a better feel of who we are and what we do," invited Sweeten.

For logo and submission specifications, go to, visit the CAC at 501 Main St., or call 662-328-2787. All entries must be received by Oct. 31
