Soprano Alisa Toy will present her senior voice recital Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the recently renovated Poindexter Hall at Mississippi University for Women.
Toy is a music education major and the wife of Dr. Royal Toy, education professor. She will be accompanied by MUW alumna Rachel Delk.
The program will begin with Gioachino Rossini’s showpiece “La Regata Veneziana” that describes a Venetian boat race. After a section of German and French art songs, a highlight of the program is a comic duet from Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” with Royal Toy, baritone. Juliet’s famous waltz aria from “Romeo and Juliet” by Gounod will follow the duet. Concluding the recital is a set of songs by contemporary American composer Ben Moore.
Toy recently won first place in regional and state student auditions of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and is a student of Dr. Cherry Dunn, MUW professor of music.
The recital is free and open to the public.
