DynCorp keeps CAFB contract through March

Approximately 500 contracting jobs at the Columbus Air Force Base are safe, at least for the moment.

According to a CAFB press release, the CAFB has extended its contract with DynCorp until March 31, 2013. After the contract was awarded to L-3 Communications Vertex Aerospace of Madison in October, the Virginia-based DynCorp filed a protest of contract award with the U.S. Government Accountability Office.

When it was announced that L-3 Communications would take over the maintenance contract beginning on Dec. 1, officials from L-3 assured DynCorp employees that they would honor the remainder of the contract and would consider them for employment with L-3.

Officials at DynCorp and L-3 Communications did not respond to interview requests Thursday morning.
