STARKVILLE - Down 10 points at halftime, Mississippi State women's basketball coach Vic Schaefer urged his squad to become the tougher basketball team.

In the second half, the Bulldogs did just that.

Rallying from down by 12 points in the game's final half, MSU put on quite a rally to take down Louisiana Tech 57-55 in the Humphrey Coliseum.

"We out-toughed them in the second half," Schaefer said. "That is the biggest thing you can take away from this game. We grew up physically as a basketball team tonight. When we became the tougher team, it allowed us to move the ball inside more."

Kendra Grant paced MSU (2-1) with 20 points, including 14 in the game's final half.

A nip-and-tuck contest late, the Bulldogs secured victory when Darriel Gaynor sank a baseline jumper with 52 seconds remaining.
