Christopher Arden Otis went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 31, 2009, at the Park Plaza Medical Center, Houston, TX, after a brief illness. An Eagle Scout, Chris was a 1982 graduate of Tupelo High School and a member of the Golden Wave Band. He graduated from Mississippi State University in 1986 with a degree in Accounting. He was CFO of General Plastics Corporation of Houston. He was active in his church, the Community Gospel Church where he sang on the Praise Team and taught Bible study. He enjoyed collecting antiques and Murano glass, boating and travel. He was the son of Larry Otis and the late Julia Griffin Otis. He is survived by his father Larry Otis and Sharon Fanning-Otis, brothers Keith and Cavett Otis; a sister Kate Otis Joyner; nieces Leslie Otis Pleasants, Laura Otis Zumwalt and Emma Grace Joyner; nephews Will Otis II and Cooper Joyner and his grandmother Blanche Hill Otis. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandparents Emmett C. Otis and Dr. and Mrs. Roy Griffin. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Friendship Cemetery in Columbus with Dr. John Armstead officiating under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Boy Scouts of America, Troop 12, First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 854, Tupelo, Ms 38802.
