Oktibbeha County Coroner Micheal Hunt pleaded guilty in Lowndes County Justice Court on Tuesday to one count of driving under the influence.

The charge stems from a Nov. 8 traffic stop in Columbus that resulted in Hunt's arrest for first-offense DUI and careless driving.

The careless driving charge was dismissed Tuesday, but after pleading guilty to DUI, Hunt was ordered to pay $897 in fines and sentenced to six months probation, which includes mandatory Mississippi Alcohol Safety Education Program classes and random drug and alcohol screenings.

Hunt, 46, was driving east on Highway 82 toward Columbus around 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 8 when he was pulled over by Mississippi Highway Patrol in front of the John Deere dealership.

He was released on $1,075 bond.
