Two arrested on drug, burglary charges

A West Point man was arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana, more than an ounce with intent to distribute.  

 

Jeffrey Terrell Walker, 23, of 16109 Hwy 47 in West Point, was arrested on Monday by agents with the Lowndes County Narcotics Unit during a drug trafficking investigation.  

 

More than a pound of marijuana and an undisclosed amount of cash was in his possession at the time of the arrest. The high-grade marijuana called kush has a street value of approximately $4,500.  

 

Walker was in the custody of the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center awaiting bond on Wednesday.  

 

In an unrelated arrest, Michael Dean Wright was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and burglary of a dwelling.  

 

Wright, 31, of 4372 Cal-Steens Road in Caledonia, was arrested on Monday by the Lowndes County Sheriff's Department. Wright allegedly stole a gun and other items from a home he burglarized and then posted them for sale on Craigslist.  

 

At the time of his arrest, he was on probation with the Mississippi Department of Corrections. He is currently in the custody of the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center.
