MERIDIAN – Mississippi Arts and Entertainment Center (MAEC) honored Hartley Peavey — founder and CEO of Peavey Electronics — with a bronze star added to the Walk of Fame Jan. 17 at Dumont Plaza in historic downtown Meridian. Peavey was also honored with a marker on the Mississippi Blues Trail.
“Hartley Peavey is one of the country’s most successful entertainment business entrepreneurs,” said Marty Gamblin, executive director of the MAEC. “Our organization’s mission is to celebrate and honor Mississippians who have touched the world with their talents in the arts and entertainment industry, and we are proud to honor Hartley Peavey whose success has made a positive impact on the city of Meridian, the state of Mississippi and the world.”
As the founder and CEO of Peavey Electronics Corporation, Hartley Peavey heads one of the world’s largest and most diversified manufacturers of musical-instrument and professional-audio products, boasting more than 180 patents, a product line exceeding 2,000 products, and distribution in 136 countries. Today Peavey is at the vanguard of an industry he first turned on its ear and revolutionized over 48 years ago with his innovative manufacturing advancements and the philosophy of building high-quality gear that musicians could afford. Peavey Electronics has been manufacturing continuously under the same ownership and management longer than any other major American music and pro audio manufacturer.
Peavey will join the Walk of Fame with other bronze stars of famous Mississippians including Jimmie Rodgers, B.B. King, Sela Ward Morgan Freeman, International Sweethearts of Rhythm, Walter Anderson, Moe Bandy, Mac McAnally, Marty Stuart, Eudora Welty, Tennessee Williams and William Faulkner. The MAEC plans for many others to be added in the future.
