Table Talk — A Casual Visit with Books will meet each Wednesday in February. Memoirs is the month’s theme. Laugh twice as hard with authors and identical twins Katherine and Margaret King Feb. 6 as they share mischievous adventures of their youth in Oxford in the ’50s. “Y’all Twins?” is the first book of their hilarious reminiscences. Everyone is welcome to these talks hosted by the Friends of the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library. No charge. Bring lunch at 11:30 a.m. to socialize in the second floor meeting room of the library, 314 Seventh St. N. Tea is always served. Talks are noon-1 p.m.

Freedom Riders — The Gordy Honors College Forum at Mississippi University for Women begins a two-part examination of the civil rights movement and presents the film “Freedom Riders” in MUW’s Parkinson Hall Nissan Auditorium. “The Fantasticks” — Starkville Community Theatre presents Broadway’s longest-running musical at The Playhouse on Main, 108 E. Main St., Starkville. All performances are at 7:30 p.m., except Feb. 10, which is at 2 p.m. Paula Mabry directs. Tickets are $15 for adults; $10 for students. An Evening with Angela Brown — The Columbus Arts Council presents international operatic soprano and Metropolitan Opera singer Angela Brown in “Art Songs, Arias and Spirituals” at Mississippi University for Women’s Rent Auditorium in Whitfield Hall at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 general admission; $10 for children and college students with ID. Rotary Classic Rodeo —
This Starkville Rotary Club scholarship fundraiser at the Mississippi Horse Park features rodeo action at 7 p.m. each night. Saturday night pony rides and petting zoo are from 5-6:45 p.m. for ticket holders. Tickets are $15 at the door, or $12 in advance in Starkville at the Greater Starkville Development Partnership, Oktibbeha County Co-op and in West Point at Mitchell Automotive. Friends of the Library — Friends of the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library hold their annual membership meeting and appreciation luncheon at noon in the library’s second floor meeting room, 314 Seventh St. N. Hear a review of last year’s adventures with Friends and a preview of upcoming events. New board members will be elected. Rufus Ward will share a little-known Columbus story.
