Dispatch wins 13 advertising awards

The Commercial Dispatch advertising department picked up 13 awards at the Mississippi Press Association's Better Newspaper Contest banquet, held Feb. 2 in Jackson. 


The Dispatch was awarded third place in Overall Advertising Excellence after collecting one first place, five second places and six third places in its circulation category (9,000 to 15,000). 


Awards were: 


■ Best Series of Ads, first place, Jay Armstrong (Shelton's Cleaners) 


■ Best Single Retail Ad (black and white), 2nd place, Jay Armstrong (DC Music); third place, Jackie Taylor (Rejuvenation) 


■ Best Classified Ad, second place, Ernest Rogers (Premier Ford) 


■ Best House Ad (circulation), second place, Jackie Taylor. 


■ Best Magazine Periodical Ad, second place, Stacy Clark, Jackie Taylor, Ernest Rogers, Peter Imes (Catfish Alley). 


■ Best Single Magazine Ad, second place, Jackie Taylor (Lowndes Funeral Home). 


■ Best Retail Ad (color), third place, Jackie Taylor (Jim's Clothing) 


■ Best Service Ad (color), third place, Ernest Rogers, Bobbie Perry (Hearing Aid Services) 


■ Best Advertising Promotion, third place, Jackie Taylor (Columbus-Lowndes Habitat for Humanity Great Tombigbee Duck Race) 


■ Best Classified Section, third place, The Dispatch staff.
