A nurse at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle was charged with possession of a controlled substance after two vials of morphine were found in her possession after she was arrested in connection with a separate incident.
Tina Stegall, 44, of 201 Casey Lane in Columbus was arrested on March 2 on a domestic violence charge. Upon entering the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center, Stegall's belongings were checked, as is standard procedure, where six vials were found in her purse, two of which contained morphine. The other four vials were sent to the crime lab for testing. Morphine is a schedule II narcotic. Stegall was charged with possession of the controlled substance on Thursday.
Hospital officials declined to comment on the matter or Stegall's current state of employment with the hospital.
