Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics agents, along with Pontotoc deputies and police officers, over the weekend arrested a local woman wanted for attempted burglary by Illinois authorities for fraudulently obtaining prescriptions, according to MBN Director Marshall Fisher.
Agents arrested 32-year-old Angela M. Richards, of Pontotoc, who used five different aliases, as a result of an investigation that uncovered more than 50 fraudulent prescriptions filled at four different drug stores in five Mississippi counties (Itawamba, Lafayette, Lee, Pontotoc and Union).
Richards faces multiple counts of prescription forgery and fraud in connection with the discovery of fraudulent prescriptions written for 30 to 100 dosage units of different strengths of Xanax and Lorcet.
In a separate weekend investigation, state and local officers served a search warrant at a Noxubee County residence that led to the arrest of two suspected drug violators and the seizure of assorted drugs, cash and vehicles, Fisher said.
Officers charged 32-year-old Rodney “Bird” Roby, of Macon, with possession of crack cocaine, powdered cocaine, ecstasy and codeine in connection with the seizure of approximately 447 grams of marijuana, 76 grams of crack cocaine, eight grams of ecstasy, 18 milliliters of codeine and 28 grams of powdered cocaine. The seized drugs have a combined estimated street value of approximately $9,800.
In addition, agents seized approximately $7,165 in cash, a laptop computer, stun gun, .22-caliber handgun, three sets of digital scales, a four-wheel ATV, a 2002 Cadillac Escalade, a 1985 Oldsmobile Cutlass, a 1996 Chevy Impala SS, a 32-inch Sharp LCD TV and a 60-inch Mitsubishi TV.
Roby is being held at the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center. His initial court appearance is Tuesday.
Agents also arrested 40-year-old Terry Joiner, of Macon, and charged him with hindering prosecution and possession of crack cocaine.
Joiner was transported to the Noxubee County Jail, where he awaits an initial court appearance.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol, Macon Police Department and the Lowndes County Sheriff Department assisted in the investigation.
