Man arrested for drive-by

Frederick Keare Butler, 23, of 1308 20th St. North, was arrested Friday after allegedly shooting four times into a van driven by Peyton McCrary of Columbus.  

 

According to scanner traffic, McCrary was driving near the intersection of 23rd Street and Washington Avenue when two suspects fired into his vehicle and then fled. Officers with the Columbus Police Department arrested Butler near the 400 block of 20th Street South.  

 

He was charged with one count of aggravated assault with a weapon. He is currently in the custody of the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center. 

 

 

 

The following arrests were reported by the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office and the Columbus Police Department: 

 

  • Gregory Demond Stewart, 34, of 704 Eighth St. S., was arrested by MDOC April 11 and charged with violation of parole. He is on parole for possession of cocaine. He has not been released. 

     

  • Freddie Lee Hartley, 63, of 1010 Fifth Ave. N. #B, was arrested by MDOC April 11 and charged with violation of parole. He is on parole for the sale of cocaine. He has not been released. 

     

  • Thomas Steadman, 29, of 320 Brown Road in Starkville, was arrested on Alabama Street, by LCSO April 10 and charged with driving with a suspended driver's license and grand larceny. His court date is May 21. He has not been released.
