Vacancies at Mississippi University for Women’s Culinary Camp for Kids are going fast. Four one-week sessions for young chefs-in-training June 3-28 will bring youth into the professional setting of the W’s Culinary Arts Institute to explore the world of cooking through demonstrations, lectures and hands-on work in the kitchen.
Food safety, proper sanitation and kitchen safety will be taught each session before participants learn practical techniques to produce the recipes of the day that can be easily replicated at home.
Chef Mary Helen Hawkins of the Culinary Arts Institute, an MUW alumna and instructor for the Viking School in Greenwood, will lead the camps this summer.
