JACKSON — On Friday, Mississippi Public Broadcasting’s Think Radio launched a new weekly radio program about Mississippi tourism attractions and events. “Next Stop, Mississippi” — a partnership with the Mississippi Development Authority’s Tourism Division — will air each Friday at 10 a.m. after one of MPB’s most popular programs, “The Gestalt Gardener.”
“Mississippians often are not aware of or simply take for granted the variety of attractions and events available all year round. ‘Next Stop, Mississippi’ will highlight both familiar and not-so-familiar places and activities and create a space to hear the voices of our friends and neighbors who make Mississippi tourism possible,” said Malcolm White, director of MDA Tourism.
The program will offer timely information about weekend events and upcoming activities for all ages and interests. Listeners will be invited to call into the show to discuss heir favorites and will also be able to submit questions and comments via social media.
“Whether it’s a music festival or food competition, every event has an interesting story about its origins, some behind-the-scene antics or the participants,” added White. “That’s what we hope to share with listeners.”
