A Columbus man was arrested at a local restaurant Monday night for carrying a concealed weapon.
The Columbus Police Department responded to a call at Zaxby's restaurant Monday around 6:30 p.m. for a disturbance with a weapon.
When officers arrived on scene, they discovered Jafruicon Laquavis Barry, 21, of 634 31st Ave. N. #61, being held on the ground by two men.
According to a police report, Barry had gotten into an argument with his girlfriend, a Zaxby's employee, earlier in the day. He arrived at Zaxby's to confront the woman with a machete after she had arrived at work.
The woman called her father and uncle who came to the restaurant and restrained Barry, holding him on the floor of the restaurant until police arrived. He was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon.
Barry was transported to the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center and was released later Monday evening on a $446 bond. Carrying a concealed weapon without a permit is a misdemeanor.
Barry does not have a prior criminal history with the CPD or the Lowndes County Sheriff's Department, according to records.
